In the corner of my mind, you sat, collecting dust
Cobb webs formed, intricate patterns, complicated as time past
Every once in a while, you crossed my mind
But the moments were fleeting; life was in high gear
Months turned into years, it went by in a blur
You were so far from my thoughts by then, priorities seemed to have shifted
But one day, you reappeared in the least likely place
I scoffed at first, it seemed like a long-shot
So much had transpired; surely I'd be a fool to try
But the thoughts kept pulling at me, nagging me relentlessly
You took on a life of your own, til I could no longer deny
I had to face it, meet you eye to eye and know
My dreams from so long ago could no longer be relinquished to a corner of my mind

This is an excellent telling of what can so easily happen when we put our dreams on hold. I enjoyed this very much Mel. It had good internal rhyme and a nice 'story-feel' to it as well. What really got me into this was how intriguing it was; how the sense of having missed out on something and the prospect - no...the determination to come to terms with it ("I had to face it, meet you eye to eye and know") - it was a wonderful bringing together of recollections; pooling of thoughts; settling of accounts even (in a way). It contained that important element of hope (that's how I see it anyhow). Very good piece. Bravo! It was well worth the read.
