Distant thunder roll'd
pulsing beneath my feet
and I payed it no mind
adjusted to the beat
First came the rain
cold and unforgiving
followed by the hail
cruel and brutal
My first reaction
stay dry and warm
but eventually it all sunk in
so i bathed in the storm.
It wasn't long
until I drowned
my heart matted and tangled
I begged for the sun
And when it came
I was disappointed
my skin was pruned
and couldn't dry
With heavy eyes I stood
and walked into the rays
Even though it felt like years
it had only been just days
The gentle cold I caught
lingered just a bit
but my clothes were dry and soft again
so I got over it
You see I learned
that as bad as a storm gets
it cannot last forever
although you wont forget
the sniffling and the sneezing
and how the ice had burned you skin
and in a way your thankful
that you were trapped within.
A lesson comes not just from books
but people just as well.
Maybe not in the best of ways.
But on THAT I wouldn't dwell.
