The sweat runs down my back again, as my hammer shapes the raw steel.
The metal's glowing red, it's hot, this sword has power I can feel.
I hear the sound of dogs barking, strangers are coming to our town.
The barking has now changed to screams, as horses are running around.
This sword is still glowing red hot, as a horseman runs through a wall.
The sword is now searing through flesh, it feels like it answered it's call.
No edge has been made on this blade, the heat melts through flesh on it's own.
The horseman lies dead on the floor, as it's edge I begin to hone.
I don't have this sword quite done yet, now it seems that doesn't matter.
This sword it screams for blood shed now, it's thumping to make blood splatter.
No water will touch this blade here, the forging is now done in blood.
I'm finding the edge much sharper, and I swear it has a taste bud.
I finish this vampire like sword, and I finish it none too soon.
For a raider enters my shop, now his body is sliced and strewn.
This sword now it acts on it's own, all I need to do is hold on.
It's hunger for blood is so great, but evil's what it feeds upon.
This sword has magical power, to warn me when evil is near.
You see it's thirst for evil blood, will make sure that the coast is clear.
I now name this sword Protector, it's the sword's power not my skill.
I'm just a blacksmith by trade, not a soldier who's trained to kill.
I now hear a powerful king, is planning to steal my new sword.
But it won't work the way he plans, because he leads an evil horde.
So now I must prepare for war, this village I plan to protect.
An accident made Protector, and evil will feel it's effect.
~2~
I jump awake with a startle, Protector began to make noise.
Like a cat who lays there growling, just waiting to play with a toy.
I get up and sound the alarm, the village is now on alert.
We've been building up our army, to minimize those who'll be hurt.
Our army follows it's leaders, but I will be left all alone.
When Protector will go berserk, the full effects are still unknown.
Our army is now mustard out, formed up in their formation lines.
I've positioned myself up front.Protector will give me the sign.
There's throbbing in Protector's hilt, true evil is now on it's way.
I now warn the army behind, their combat positions displayed.
Dirt rises off the horizon, horsemen are leading the way.
Protector has now grabbed my hands, it wants loose now so it can play.
Protector is now held up front, as the enemy closes ground.
I see them coming up on me, but, now I can not hear a sound.
Protector now moves on it's own, as it flies to my left and right.
Men are now sliced from their saddles, my grip on the hilt is still tight.
The movement around me is blurred, But it all feels like slow motion.
And now I lose all track of time, as Protector shows devotion.
The slaughter goes on through the day, I'm covered in dried blood and gore.
And just when I think it's all done, Protector is calling for more.
My lungs are about to burst, the last of their army is dead.
The ground is all mushy with gore, and muddy from the fluid they bled.
The villagers stare in horror, from the terrible things I did.
However, their lives were still saved, by Protector, the sword I hid.
