Living Life on the Raw Sticky Edge

They may just look
Like lumpy irregular squares
An perhaps a ho-hum treat of sorts
Lacking elegance in form or adornments
But in Japan, those Raw Creme Fraiche Carmels
Are all the rage, with a gathering line of impatient folks
Ready to plop down good yen for this sweet but uncomely treat.
And just why  is that so--
Does anyone one know
Why a simple variation,
Creates such sensation?
I don't know, oh yes,
But I'll hazard to guess
To give the reason why,
Is more than meets the eye!
Could it just be, that it is a way, to live life a little bit on the edge?
To become once again as an enamored child in a candy shop--
Who can't wait to get their grubby little hands upon
The sticky sweet yum yums, of any shape or kind
To satisfy unwholesome habits frowned upon
By others, and yet for that very moment
Giving a rush of such guilty delight
That it momentarily seems that
The world's in their control
And since it's there
they can just do
as they please?
Ah, Life on
the Edge!
(Yum!)

The form of this poem-is a combination of non-rhyming sandwiching the rhyming in a
suggestive adventuresome mouth of curious appetite- making an interesting shadow.

    Glad you liked it

You sure are quick on the uptake!!!
I had fun with this one--it's kind of writing poetry about living on the enticing gooey edge of life, using some unorthodox poetry on the edge!

    Thanks!

this piece definitely made me smile. I love how it sped up and slowed down and sped up again--like someone ranting about some delicious new thing they found!
    Best,
