Four Sisters' Strife
©copyright 2004 Bonita M Quesinberry
They are four sisters, each diff'rent from the other;
often causing some distress for their own mother.
Yet, each in her way is a beauty to behold:
the two oldest either cool to indiff'rent cold;
the two younger always a sweet scent to embrace,
a feast for the eyes in their pastel arrayed grace.
So attentive, each girl visits us ev'ry year;
though one at a time, the other leaving in tears.
The youngest are neat and tidy; the third messy,
tossing her clothes all around; the fourth quite dressy.
We never know exactly when one will arrive
and seldom do we expect what they might contrive.
Their untimely trips can be a surprise to us;
one or two always arrives kicking up a fuss.
Yet, we definitely adore each one of them;
anticipating their visits, wondering when.
There's ever such a flurry of activity,
despite knowing there could be a calamity.
Even their names fit their personalities well:
Spring is always a delight but tears tend to swell;
Summer is welcome but her temper can be hot;
then, Autumn tends to come unannounced, quite a lot.
Ah, but Winter is the one whose mood can swing wild.
She can be coldly indiff'rent or even mild.
In advance, for her we always plan and prepare;
knowing that to her there is nothing to compare:
above all, when she slips into her pure white gown;
then, graces us with her presence all about town,
sleek and smooth, enticing all to join in her fun.
Yet, she can be dang'rous before the day is done.
And, just when we are about to tire of Winter,
Spring flies back in to send her sister in splinters.
Then we anticipate Summer will arrive soon,
followed by her sister's glorious harvest moons.
Around the world these girls travel, missing no place,
each gracing all and sundry with a unique face.

Well, my birthday is in June, so I guess that makes me like summer.
But, I prefer spring because it's not too hot for me.
Thank you, sweetheart!
