Over the hill and through the brake,
at the edge of the lake -- in the morning --
when the ducks are parked in idle,
you can hear summer creak against
the springs, toss the blossoms from last year
free from its tresses. Wonder is coming.
Magic has tickled itself free from the bag of tricks.
Metamorphis lit lights in the fur of cocoons.
Water skimmers danced along ripples
awakening in the reeds as moments found
the golden change stirring on the shore.
Tremblings shimmer tangling with heat
unwrapping the blossoms for flight.
‘neath the hill, where chill has creeped
stirs the magic the stones would keep.
Shudders admidst the rotting wood,
shakes that chase the wood chuck about.
As rocks are split and springs suddenly sprung
the bear awakes from winters sleep and growls,
creeps away quickly head down slung, for all
the growls and snarls this is more than ursa
would want to meet. From beneath the mound
comes claws that gleam of silver and gold.
A quicksilver trembling shakes free the dirt and wood.
Scales luminescent with inner light dance hand ‘n hand
with the iridescent flight of sunlight.
You hear the wind whisper to snake and the owl
in the brake, “Dragon has come again to awaken
magic in steel and stone, cleave the world with blood
bone and jewels flow from dark cave's sleep.
Gather ‘round listeners for the tale to tell, how
magic came unfrozen in a spring dance. How dragon
was freed and walked the fen again, at last.

Author notes
I am sorry to leave you with only a beginning, but this would be a saga with many twists and turns. I just wanted to catch the awakening.

What About My Imagination
Does it suit your verdict? -
Puff The Magic Dragon
Puff = Jesus...Honilee=Gallilee
Frolic=Preaching
Sea=Sea of Galilee
Jackie=Apostles
Puff leaving=Crucifixtion
I have no forgotten tales! My imagination lurks in Christ centered thinking. ALONG WITH YOUR FAVORITE SONG. -

Now you know, I am not Christo-centric. So I never thought of any of that in Puff the Magic Dragon. For me it is just how our immagination dies and loses the life of its own that it had. It is another perspective that works when I look at it from your Light. I have finally surfaced from my latest reading wihich is "The Dead Sea Scrolls Conspiracy" by Michael Biagant. I have been digging around in Biblical History and how much the Papacy has influenced Christian thinking much of it by high jacking the truth. Been digging around in this stuff for the last three or four years. Found it has greatly deepened my Faith.

This is a prism of lucid dreamings..
The quilt is one of fantasies brought down
through seasons, gifted as blooms opening before
those who wander with eyes wide, unexpecting.
I was captured in the luxury of life embedded in these lines and how it is naturally assumed to
unearth the magic in the everyday. Blue

The greatest magic is always hidden in the every day. Our greatest gifts are often missed because many do not see the magic that is rampant throughout the land.

I remembered about
Puff The Magic Dragon! I almost commented about exactly that... -

Life is full of miracles and in our childish wonder we experience them more readily.

Quite a compliment in that comparison. Thank you. I, just, wanted to dance out the beginning of a tale that would enchant and entice another's imagination.

Tales such as this are full of wonder and the flight and stuggle of magical plight. I constantly create these visions in my mind. Perphaps this leads to the child become man or hero discovering that what looks fierce is often ones best friend. Or maybe we make this dragon mourn the loss of his tribe and friends. So many choices and the wonder we could paint with them

To get people to enter you have to crack the door with a welcoming light. Let the magic swirl forth in the dust that shook free from the doors locks and gates.

What a wonderland! This introduction allows us to see the magic, feel its intensity, and sit it wonder, and amazement at the beauteous world that surrounds us, whether real or fantastical. You bring us from the dormant stages of nature to its fully bloomed splendor. It has been a while since I read or wrote of dragons. Your poem makes me inspired to try my pen at the brilliance you share.
Simply awe inspiring! I wish you well in the contest.
Always ♥

One of the things that saved me in the process of out growing all the turmoil was my sense of magic in the world. I, of course, loved Puff the Magic Dragon. But I grew up with a sense of understanding that magic and its attendents surrounded us at all times.

Now as I read in Biblical history all the ways Christianity was brought to life and how the arguements dance around the wonder of the beginnng, I understand how much our connection to the universal and the immediate is our job. When we become responsible for who we are, we can march shoulder to shoulder with God and bring forth the finest expression of creation. Call Him by all his names and still he is the One. Enough of me. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your joy at my simple descriptions.
