Nostalgia or a Lost Childhood

Dig deep inside
Rip through the layers
And pry open the hinges
To my little beating heart.
Merrily skipping beats
To the sound of my tiny drums
Beating in my head, forever pounding in my brain.

And you will find
Amoungst the rust and dust
That all of our memories are still there.
Tucked away and hidden from plain view
But always there, forevermore.
The pleasure the pain
And all in between
Lie here and only here,

For you see I still remember our family
And all the times we'd all meet up
And run around the park til we dehydrated,
Gaining strength from fast food then running out into the open again.

I remember walking through the streets and shops,
Sometimes sober sometimes drunk
But every memory sticks to the walls
And creates a picture frame surrounding events.

I can still feel the exact way I felt
When I found her on the first day of summer.
Tears still well up when I think of my first amor
Those warm nights were only stuff of legends and lore before her.

But time moved on
And I got older
And after my heart was shredded.
I grew colder
And colder and colder
Until finally the fire returned to the Phoenix
in the form of New Life
which allowed me to let in a fellow wanderer
Who lit up my life, lit up the sky.
I tell you this, love, and I absolutely mean it:
I'm not letting you go, you've stolen my very heart.
And you'll never fall, as long as this restless warrior is by your side,
Tis a promise made, and a promise never dies.

So even though I've grown
I'll always look back and smile
At the memories of old
And sometimes cry
From the agony left by the trails
Of destruction that madness can leave behind.

And I'll never forget a single one of you.
