Adrift on an iceberg
Just big enough for one.
How did I get here?
Chipped away, layer by layer
Carving my boundaries
Creating a chasm
Until finally breaking
Away from the mass altogether.
Floating aimlessly
Through the cold water
Wistfully dreaming of solid ground.
Occasionally awakened
By the sickening grind of landfall
But I can’t reach the shore
Without getting wet.
So I remain on my icy refuge
And float away
With the tide.
But it’s melting
Getting smaller
Every day
I am sinking
With no land in sight.

This was....
Amaizing!
The imagery,
The feeling,
All of it just radiated out of this piece!
I loved it!
WOW!

this was a very good comparison. lonliness to being on a sinking iceberg. very good job and good luck in the contest!
