Darkness covers polluted lands, where death and squalor reside,
for our eternal battle with mother earth, this apocalyptic slide.
our constant rape of natures gifts, our technological advance,
has obliterated *landscapes*, proffered no second chance.
our suicidal ignorance, whilst tearing down the trees,
our blinded sense of *reality*, as we poison global seas.
we plunder and we ravage for fuel and mineral ore,
we digest and rot this planet, down to it's very core.
pestilence and famine, catastrophes and war,
the reason for these insane acts, i can't recall what for.
why ignorance for wisdom, why suicide for life,
why inflict this Armageddon, this intolerance and strife.
this living hellish *vision*, that humanity has made,
a sunless, bird less empty world, no tree or grassy blade,
one thing is all we have now, our *imagination* of what was,
an Eden of gods given earth, perfection with no flaws.
a doorway to past lifetimes, when mother nature once more lived,
when she nurtured man and animal, with her priceless precious gift.

"our suicidal ignorance, whilst tearing down the trees,"
Exactly, ignorance, that's what it is, cutting down the trees is one of those things that really just ticks me off. Also,Including the word "our" not pointing the finger is how i look at it as well, too many people try to push the blame on others.
GL in the contest! Lovely write.
