Soulangiana

Magenta tulip tree is presenting
Saucer sized skirts of cream upturned
Lavender petaled leather luxury
To the first warm breath in winter

Believing

I gasp at unguarded heart unfolded
Eager for light trip of bees and butterfly
Stumble of bumble rolling in pollen of peace

But they, knowing, still slumber
Remember the harbingers of hope
Chanting love will find another way
Get frosted, trampled, crucified, burned
In the name of peace and security

Late frosts burn your loveliness
Into brown draped drab crepe shroud
That makes one wonder if you survive
Till downy pastel green leaves like cheeks
Adorn your elegant smooth lithe limbs
Without hint of thorn or armour
That I cannot help
But adore...

"I gasp at unguarded heart unfolded" - i am gasping at an unguarded heart as well. this took my breath away.

the word 'believing' in this - the way you used it - the placement of the word - delineated - is so powerful.

it is so good to read you right now.

    Late Frosts Burn Your Loveliness!

...What a fantastic line, and a tender poem to match.

The late frosts got my pear tree. As I sit typing at my window looking over each branch, I have only found two pears. Maybe, they will grow to record setting portions. I know you were feeling a bit down, and now I don't see you any much. Please know it concerns me. So, not to add the tiniest pressure, I am sending kind thoughts your way.

It happened last night. Not a total burn; but there is chocolate mixed with the purple. The bradford pears are beginning to open. They are perfect circles of showy white.

a seed must die before it can sprout...
Beautiful poem! Verily captures the transition from winter to spring, and all that we associate with that.
