Today I create my own
February Frenzy:
to love a friend I thought a foe.
I would not tie a bow
around his neck,
or push him in a corner with a red bouquet,
or drown him in a sensual frown
or gaze of bliss,
or rock his boat.
But I know:
on reading this
he may just smile
and be the deadly clown
that cut my throat.

Wow, brutal, but so nice of you for being a friendly foe.
-
Knowing who your friends are will win you the battle... Knowing who your foes are will win you the war. Best of luck in the contest.
Sincerely,
Leo Long

Ok. I'm lost...

That's different. I have a few people I could do that with, maybe even have a party! Do hope none of them would cut my throat. Better not to turn your back.
Enjoyed this write.

There is a saying, "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer!"
I catch the frenzy, this moves and rollicks to the final punch. There are people who will never agree with us, and delight in poking at tender places. If such is a foe, well, bless them in it!
