My love, tonight I'm sitting by the station tracks
with the sun in my head and a gun to my back
and I'm search, search, searching
for the way back to the empty morning
And I promised you I'd never turn around
And I'd never undo the "I won't make a sound"
But I can't believe you never reached out
to the soaking downpour
Creating an insatiable tangible reality
that melted and it pieced together
every scrap that's left of me
The possible imaginary hope you'd be the one I knew
Well it- yeah, it was falling through
And I promised you I'd never turn around
And I'd never undo the "I won't make a sound"
But I can't believe you never reached out
to the soaking downpour
Breaking down the mortar
and you're staring through the cracks
Trying to find the dystentery
soaking all the love you know you lack
I would have left the steel inside me
if I thought a single word was true
And it was all because of you
So when I look around
and I don't see the things you do
Become the liar and the victim
and the sympathetic fool
I can recount and electrify
the lie behind the "swear it's true"
Well it- yeah, it was falling through.
Author notes
These are actually lyrics I wrote a short while ago but they can be read as a poem as easily as they can be heard as a song so I saw no reason not to share it. I hope you enjoy the piece. ^^
