The Moment

It’s the moment my heart transforms into a bomb,
Exploding uncontrollably, leaving me breathless.
And at the same time a roller coaster appears in  my stomach.
Racing off the tracks and doing endless loop-de-loops.
In the darkest of places my eyes can light the way,
But my voice is hidden just as a shy child.
It’s the moment when my palms release excess moisture,
With just one touch of my finger I could make a garden grow.
My body feels electrified, bolts running all the way to my toes.
And my smile now takes up my entire face- ear to ear and full of hope.
When all of the threatening demons fade away
I am no longer walking alone.

It happens every day and every time
I gaze into your bright, promising eyes.
In your eyes, I can see the future:
A glimpse of what finally will be.
And in that moment --
I stop trying to achieve happiness-
Because with you,for the very first time,
The feeling comes completely natural and pure.
