In The Face of Death

Laughing laughing everybody laugh
Though we all know that the stormy weather comes it will soon pass
Laughing laughing everybody laugh
Avoiding the questions that we all should ask

We were all caught in the rain nobody was to blame
But the death that followed was so hollow it fills my heart with shame
He seldom said to me that he would  like to be
Cremated or embedded in the earth for the whole damn world to see
So his death bed irony is a cold read eulogy
From somebody that he never knew or that he’d never meet

And we were
Laughing laughing everybody laugh
Though we all know that the stormy weather comes it will soon pass
Laughing laughing everybody laugh
Avoiding the questions that we all should ask

Well we sat all alone
Yeah nobody was at home
And we ate all the food that was given by the known
And we read the cards that were written with such care
But the lonely feeling that persisted was still always there
Until she said to me a familiar story
And now were laughing in the face of death because that’s how it should be

And we were
Laughing laughing everybody laugh
Though we all know that the stormy weather comes it will soon pass
Laughing laughing everybody laugh
Avoiding the questions that we all should ask

Well he said he’d never die
And he thought that we’d all cry
But were laughing in the face of death because life is on our side
I was dreaming of the past but nothing seems to last
So the moral of the story is to laugh laugh laugh
I was dreaming of the past but nothing seems to last
So the moral of the story is to laugh laugh laugh
