The deafening sound of not knowing...

Missing image

All she can hear is the waiting
The weeks, the months, the...
Well, she can't think that far yet

Her head hurts. Her heart hurts
and she feels so weak inside
Often all she can do is close her eyes

In her dream world she is brave and strong
soaring higher than fear and pain
She fights off all the bad cells

In the real world she can't find herself
She's like a needle in a haystack
with a needle in her pokey arm

And all she can hear is the waiting
The deafening sound of not knowing
not knowing if tomorrow will come

Actually, a very fine poem. The story is told with nice detail... and has that real sense of universality. Our dreams being a place where we (sometimes) are in control... the real world? Just a horrible job trying to get up in the morning...

Wow. this is beautiful. I could feel the fear in this piece. It was very well written and you seem so brave. I applaud your courage and am sure tomorrow will keep on coming for you

    Your title -

    said it all.

After I read your piece I let myself exhale.

The most therapeutic thing you can do is write your heart out - every ounce of pain, happiness, sorrow, and joy -

I owe you a hug and great big smile - you are so brave, love

    Thank you for sharing,
your words will give so many hope.

  • Oh my goodness

Honey those feelings you so have are coming directly from that needle indeed . The dreams you have of life in its fullest are still yours to posses but one must leave the drugs behid in order to regain the life so dreamt of . Please if you are on any drugs then for life admit yourself to a rehab get back to life you dream of and know it is possible still . The pain you shall feel in the future if you continue will be far worse than any pain felt in a rehab . Embrace and love yourself and help that loving person within live again. You know we all have thoughts we feel and wonder whats wrong why do we think the way we do but know that if each and every day ou begin by smiling just a little and add a little more every day you will find your way to a more loving and joyful life . Lock not oneself within ones own mind for thoughts are just thoughts unles you let them lead you to danger . Think positive and push out those thoughts you are unsure of embraace others about you and tell them what is hurting you and know their are guardean angels about you every day . Did you hear the person that is near that cries for they see your pain did you feel the touch of a friend that tries to help you find your way back to a life of love and joy . Know that if you can still dreeam of this life so shall can it be

Oh no, don't worry I am NOT on drugs like that! I promise I would never, ever do that. I just had to have needles in my arm when I was undergoing chemotherapy. I wrote this poem when I was very sad about being ill....but I am doing much better now! I am finished all my treatments. I still like the advice in your comment though. They are very wise and true words! I am so thankful to have lots of love and joy in my life

my sweet one, please hold on, I am with you day and night in my thoughts and my heart ... there is not one minute I don't think of you, you are dearer to me than my own child would be ... there is not much I can do or say to assist you on your path, I know, but if you lose your strength and courage, just call me in your mind, and I will be strong and courageous for you ... you know, you have the right to surrender and let others take care of you - your time will come when you will be the one caring for others ... please just be gentle with yourself ... not knowing is often a blessing, my dear one ... spiritually, it is the road to liberation from suffering ...

    I am always with you,
    maa

    Dreams and reality...

Thanks you little one for sharing the beauty of your young heart in this poignant piece. I don't know the true significance of this portrait and the meaning of your author's note, but I'd just like to say that we all need to know we have the choice of what is "dream" and what is "reality", a choice that is ours only today, for tomorrow is always tomorrow... it never comes.

Shine on ever brightly little star!

    Rahad

  • Hmmm. After reading this and particularly your author comment I don't really know what to say except that things must have shifted a bit in your life. Of course I could be wrong about that. Anyhow thanks for sharing Ellie. Great poem.
