the travelin' soldier

in your army greens
and your eyes stern with a gaze
you salute our flag
keeping terrorist away
you fight for the children
you fight for the free
you fight for this country
and you fight for me
you travel far from home
from place to place you roam
with the world on your shoulders
and the thought of never comming home
but you keep up your efforts
with your chin held high
and you still go out of your way just to fight
some people call you a killer
others a hero
but yet you feel your job isnt done
even though what you do isn't fun
your the one who goes through hell
in your mind it often dwells
but you shake it off
with the strength you know
so you can tell younger generations
the knowledge you know
so to all those who fight for us
we tip our hats
because the travelin' solder
memorys last

what is your opinion?

  • ahhhh....so well put...your rhyme and flow are spot on in this one...great poem from start to finish...I enjoyed it very much...thanks for sharing...peace and light, Kendal

  • this was a wonderful and heartfelt poem. I absolutely detest what those men have to go through, but i appreciate their efforts. I love when you said that he fights for you and you're right. those men fight when they don't know you, when you're protesting them, when you're supporting them. It's truly amazing. However, on the last line you mispelled memories. lol. congrats. this rox!

This flows really well. It's a good read, and it's good writing.
And especially, congrats on the theme.
"some people call you a killer
    others a hero"

Way to cover both sides, btw. That's what I liked about this.
