aroused, passion lingered
ice - cold and damp
within the mind -
distant from the heart
where soul can not penetrate
sealed with a kiss
brushed on cheek as hallmark
the guarantee neither of nearness
or of promise, perhaps
a token of inability
a hallmark sealed
with ice, lingers within
the promise of heart,
giving soul its token

Bravo!
This is a great take on the prompt & this form you've created lends itself to so many layers of meaning! I think your central stanza, which to me is the core of this piece is my fav:
sealed with a kiss
brushed on cheek as hallmark
the guarantee neither of nearness
or of promise, perhaps
a token of inability
The whole piece is marvelously constructed & this certainly was worthy
of that trophy!

Promise is the spark of heart that lights the flames of passion and where there's fire there's sure to be no ice. Good luck in the contest.
Sincerely,

Wonderful Title!
You have captured what I was feeling when I started this contest. Your words are beautiful and heartfelt. A delight to read this morning. Thank you for entering my contest and best of luck. Take care, Sandy

I sense a deep and conflicting yearning ...
and the inability to realize fusion in this poem, Poet. Yes. Definitely unrequited love ... even desire! It made me think of the Plutonian shadow on the wall, but much more acute!
You have penned this intriguing write passionately, as always. Well done, Poet. Go for Gold!
Love
Myra

Whew! Truly Fire & Ice
Exceptionally well written, my friend; but . . . I shall refrain from going into details: wouldn't want to make the wrong assumption.
Still, this should be delivered the GOLD!
Luv & hugs, BonQ
