Images of My Sleep

In the images of my sleep, I imagine
You still here talking with me, though
Our conversation has long passed
But it continues in my dreams

Within periodic awakenings from my
Sleep, images of life’s realities strike me
Some make me laugh, others make me weep
And they continue within the images of my sleep

I hear a train in the distance; clear is the
Sound it makes, resonating from the tracks
Its message is obvious, as it travels off into
The distance; the noise of the wheels fading

Into seeming loneliness and isolation, and
Then becoming silent – yet the nostalgic
Feeling that is leaves with me, and the memory
Of the of the train’s whistle, remain within my mind

I feel your presence, like a glowing ember, that even
From a distance permeates my being with its warmth
A soul that radiates with a desire to communicate;
To understand and to be understood – and this desire
Remains within my dreams

I drift off deeper into the images of my sleep
With all of it’s fears and hopes – and you remain
Patiently, as I communicate more openly and
Truthfully and my defenses break down and
My trust in you grows

And, though I succumb to my world of dreams
For you have long gone – yet you still remain
Within the images of my sleep

I agreee...this is a stunning poem to read!
I remember in moments of my too long sabbatical...
    seperated from ap.com.....
that I could still hear the bold and fearless remnants
of poetry whisper in my ear....
    be steadfast and strong.
You are a true inspiration to us all!

Sis this is so beautiful, and reminds me of the dreams I have of my boys, and how they are with me in my dreams but not when I awake. Thank God for dreams atleast we can be with those we have lost if only in slumber and only briefly. Beautiful write sis thanks for sharing, hugs Theresa

Simply Wonderful I love how you have the contrast of it being a dream and yet being there at the train station. Flowed so nicely and full of emotion. Blessings.
