W. Shakespeare.com

Before me a keyboard waits for my touch
with ethernet waves drifting through the air
my fingertips wander, I see so much
a screen of wonder, it’s secrets to share.
Beethoven, rock stars, a poetry site
just waiting for me on a web worldwide
downloads and music just for my delight
and google there as my personal  guide.
Yet if Shakespeare had used the internet
to write his sonnets in Microsoft Word
E mail them to fans that he’d never met
maybe even now his voice could be heard.
Beware of viruses lest you may fall
you may never read this sonnet at all.

Author notes

  • An excellent sonnet! I love the title and how you used the form to write about how Shakespeare would have coped.
    Best wishes with this!

I love this poem, the way it rhymes keeps it flowing and moving you on to read the next line. The idea of writing about the computer appeals to me, great job there. It's the kind of subject that's not written on much so it's interesting to find a good poem about it. You've got talent, keep writing.
