[it slowly faded to 12:00 pm,
as the car lights flickered,
&the conversational cigarette bickered,
the coffee lay flat,
holding on to some hope that we left behind,
way, far behind,
&we drove away from the wreck of yesterdays.]
the grass lay in the most disheleved way,
bone-dry &&egg-white,
kind of desolate, like in Colorado, or Kansas,
but it swayed with a flair.
the brilliant sky stretched in confidence,
way beyond our reach,
but somehow, it fit into the tiny corners of my room,
drenched the curtains from top to bottom,
&stole our breath.
[we captured the stars in jars,
holding them like christmas presents,
&they floated in the pinned up oxygen like fireflies,
like fairies,
&they glowed with underlying perfection]
we lay in this something,
this forever that we've fallen so hopelessly for,
&we just fucking breathe for once,
for once upon a time finally ended the story,
instead of start it like all of the boring ones.

"we captured the stars in jars,
holding them like christmas presents,"
is a very intersting line

Love it!
This is a really beautiful poem with great imagery. Honestly at first I didn't think it was gonna be a particularly happy poem but it actually creates a really nice aura for the piece. I love the mention of fireflies and fairies which gives it a mystical feel whilst at first it starts out as really down to earth and sombre leaving behind the wreck of yesterdays (my favourite line by the way.) Great ride and fabulous read : )
