You promise me walls
I glean obsessive compulsive security
And I shall bring my paint and brush
Give me your drywall and caulk
I stand ready with childhood’s chalk
If it’s pinewood or oak flooring
I’ll whittle cliché heart shaped carvings
Right into the grain of the tree’s stalk
I pray thee love, do not shy or balk
Put iron bars all over your decrepit building
And I will give up day job and take to wielding
Meshing and molding silver and die cast metal
Test me now, make me prove my heart’s mettle
Using your emotions against you as my shielding
Bulletproof to your reprove, this spirit unyielding
I offer persistence
Without pestilence
Give me your decayed heart
And I’ll season it, a la carte
Be it a corpse laden landfill I have to weather
I’ll raise an undead army to meet this endeavor
Lock me away in the box, your cell
For I will tan in the heat of your hell
Teach me the ways master, with chains to tether
This slave will do what it takes to keep us together
You promise me walls
And walls can be scaled
When this love calls
I will conquer and prevail
