shadows fall across my brow,
whilst the churning seas beneath my feet
sing in tune with the harp of tempest.
sadness lowers its curtain
around my soul,
so thin is the line
between desire and deception.
loneliness and fear take hold,
drawing me to the edge of insanity's grasp.
yet there, shining in the distance,
hidden amongst the echoes
of tears shed long ago,
is the light of redemption.
finally there comes a shallow smile,
for I am to be born anew.

This one really is so very touching and makes you realize how fragile the mind really can be...
"sadness lowers its curtain
around my soul,
so thin is the line
between desire and deception."
I love those lines...
Once again, excellent, Cuz!

Wow!!! Where do I start???
First of all, the background is beautiful and seems to be perfect for the picture.
The poem is wonderful and overflows with emotional imagery. I LOVE the last lines!
Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.
