'Tis Litha

She stands, naked to the glory of the Sun,
hands raised in supplication and praise,
'tis Litha, the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year,
when the Horned God is at the height of his power,
a celebration of the Horned God, who is filled with brilliance and splendor.

The triumph of the Oak King over the Holly King,
his power is at his highest, the Goddess, his bride,
is pregnant with child and harvest,
the Green Man makes his appearance in
celebration of the growing earth.

She decorates with Birch, St. John's Wort and lilies,
on her alter, the spear, the emblem of his glory,
and the summer cauldron, emblem of the Lady in her bounty,
cakes and ale grace the altar, emblems of the Lord's and Lady's bounty.

Bonfires lit at night to honor the Gods'  life-sustaining forces,
to provide light for those who celebrate this night,
families gathering, reunions and the blessing of animals,
wreaths of summer flowers garland the heads of all.

For all of this she give thanks and praise to the Horned God and Goddess.

I like this piece. It's different from the other religious pieces that have been entered in the contest due to the fact it's based in Wicca. You have some wonderful imagery here. Reminds me of my childhood actually, Bonfire Night in my aunt's house. Roaring fire out the back, music, family, friends, good food, staying out in the cold 'til all hours warmed by the fire watching the stars - I miss it.
    Anyhow, beautiful work.
    Thanks for entering. Good luck.
