The Last Funeral

My trembling breath
Billows in the deadening air
As the passing leaves
Turn to gray
And then ashes
His marker stood there
In amazement
He did it
He let them win
Like my oncoming migraine
The trembling earth crescendos
And the sulfuric smoke
Burns my sinuses
He gave up
His only son
And they still didn’t want Him
Racked in plague
I hear desperate and helpless cries
As the sun
Reaches for the horizon
And now
He gives Himself
There was nothing else
He could do
As the sky falls
Shattering
The earth below
They didn’t listen
Maybe now
They will

Author notes

I know this poem is a bit obscure but it is about the funeral of God, there are so many people in the world that think the world would be better off without Him, and the purpose here was to expand on that idea just enough to make make people consider what would happen if one day He just went away, stepped out of our lives and left us to our own devices...

WOW! That is something I never thought of before, Where would we be without Him? A beautiful yet scary thought! I enjoyed this very much, now if only I could get a few people to read this!

The funeral of God... what a horrible thought. I personally think that God cannot die. Thanks for sharing this with us and thanks for entering this into our contest
