Look at a star
Tell me what you see
A glimmering light?
An exploratory plea?
A pin-prick of hope
In Life's chaotic debris?
Does it resemble our freedom,
From sea to shining sea?
I will tell you the truth,
Even the stars can lie.
They look to be within reach,
At least that's what they imply.
Yet they're lightyears away,
A fact impossible to deny.
It's just a shining ball of gas
Who, like us, awaits its day to die...
I have but one question:
Why are the stars to blame?
They did not share their stories.
They did not fabricate their fame.
The fault falls to humanity
As we did define their name!
I think I've said it before,
But, for you, I'll reiterate:
You are the sole person
That can truly define your fate!
I tell you now, forge your own star
And in heaven, for you, it will wait...

I loooved this poem! "Look at a star
Tell me what you see
A glimmering light?
An exploratory plea?
A pin-prick of hope
In Life's chaotic debris?
Does it resemble our freedom,
From sea to shining sea?"
Just beautiful lines. But who is to say those stars are not something more? Thanks for entering.

wow! thanks so much for the awesome comment!!!
i am ecstatic to see that you liked it, and you are exactly right about the reasoning behind it- a star, or anything in general!, can be anything we make it to be!!!
