Where I Am From

Straight combined with curves
Black combined with white
One combined with two
To make a picture whole

Bright splashed with dark
Lines crossed with circles
Smooth turns to rough
To make a picture whole

Rich lives with poor
Dead stays with living
Sweet resides with sour
To make a picture whole

Love fights against hate
Peace struggles amid war
Sorrow in sync with joy
To make a picture whole

Thoughts traversed with words
Hopes combined with dreams
The world becomes a puzzle
This is where I'm from

Author notes

I offer to be your little sister and my name is Broken Vow

this was an assignment for english. i took a twist on what she wanted: a "Where I'm From" poem. so yeah... i also believe that the world is a puzzle and we all have a place in that puzzle.

I love it, especially how you repeated the line "to make a picture whole." And especially how you used oxymorons [I guess that's the proper term?] all throughout the poem. Amazingness.
