So much I was taught as a child,
how your name and your hands
work together all the while.
When your name was given
it was clean and full of love,
And today through my hands
this love I can't give enough.
It holds scars from my childhood
some from not listening you see,
Once I lay my hand on a skill saw
my dad was using to cut wood before I did see.
Once I ran in the back door
so excited because it snowed,
And slipped a fell, but my mom had told me;
dont run, or you will get hurt and it was so.
I was told once do as your told,
and scars you will never have to view.
For your hands say so much,
and yes obedience is up to you.
I always admired my mamas hands,
and all that they did every day.
And I would catch myself looking at mine,
and knowing what they were capable along the way.
Hands of such love to touch,
those far and near.
And to know your hands display,
your soul year after year.
So very young I decided,
that to follow my mamas steps.
I would hold my heart within my hands
and others I would help.
To let my hands be guided by care,
and know my mama is always there.

This is a wonderful contribution! The link between how we think and choices we make are reflected in the actions of our hands. The work we choose to do, if it's a poor choice, our name is linked to those actions. I love the thoughts behind your writing, not only in this one but overall. You have a gentle name and your hands suit you well.
"So very young I decided,

I would hold my heart within my hands

You selflessly offer your heart in your hand. Your mother must have been a wonderful role model.

We all make silly mistakes. True putting your hand on a circular saw blade is a rather bad one, but we have to forgive ourselves for our mistakes. I wonder what my hands say about me? They're nothing special I think, as I look at them now, but I see them everyday so maybe I should be the judge.
A lovely poem. -
Wonderful write about the hands and our names going "hand in hand' and how useful they are in everything. Blessings.
