Views that with only imagination are able to unfold
Scents that come to greet you and make your senses then explode
The sun kisses your surroundings, a new life has now been sowed
The heat comes through and warms you
Life's babies start hatching,a new life begins to sing
Love begins it's promise of kisses and maybe a cherished ring
Flowers open for the sunlight, a warming, nourishing bling
Lovers cling to each other a courtship now begins
The heat comes from your heart and warms you
The dusty dry outback is overdue for needing rain
The roos and emus take shelter never telling of their pain
The cocky's look to the sky and wonder if water they'll see again
Looking to the distance you see the harsh terrain
The heat comes from your spirit and warms you
Thunderclouds surround you roaring everywhere
You sense the spring's water and smell it in the air
The ground soaks every drop it can, til you'd think it wasnt there
But life has come full circle, no one has a care
The heat dissipates and the rain warms you

I'm an Aussie
You gotta love Aus.
I just checked an RTA map to find were broken Hill is, I thought it was further east. Were I leave now it snows occasionally in winter. I've been as far west as Wagga Wagga & Dubbo i don't remember much of a difference between summer & winter.
I lived west of Melbourne Vic. I was comfortable wearing trakkadaks in summer. West of Brisbane Qld was a shocker i remember a heatwave once got to 42, I could hardly move. It's obvious your made of tougher stuff than me. A great write. I'm posting you as a favourite.

Sorry RTA should be NRMA. Were I leave now... should be Where I live now...
I've read some of your other writes, you have an amazing writing ability that I'm in awe of.

Your poem is delightful. It well expresses the emotions of the times. I hope you do well in the contest.

Ahhh Mia, it's good to see you back and writing such a lovely poem. Your weather out there can be pretty harsh, summer and winter. I love the weather in Christchurch, much better than Australia, although we too have bushfires here caused through arson's. Good luck in the voting.

Dear Mia, having been to your town way out in the middle of the desert I know how the weather is, hot in summer, cold in winter so spring is a good time to choose before the heat returns. It's great to see an entry from you my dear niece. Good luck in the voting.
Love AJ

thankyou AJ
Its not quite the desert just the edge of it lol. we do have some trees & water. I think Autumn here is as bad as summer we get more hot days in feb/march than dec/jan lol

This certainly improves on my slim
knowledge of your continent,
mainly garnered from Crocodile Dundee!
You create images so visual I feel
I could reach out and touch---
and in such creative form!
Wondrous,
M-C

thank you
glad I could give you more images than what the movies do lol
I have a couple of other poems about here. I love writing about my area of the country. The drive or train ride from east to west here is unbelievable it changes constantly & is so diverse'

Dear Grandawt,
I know that, in the Aussie outback, summers are a pain
when months go by and farms don't get a single drop of rain.
The earth gets parched, the stock are starved and simply die of thirst
and farmers have to leave the land if the Banks don't bust them first.
In Victoria and New South Wales, bush fires each year are rife
destroying peoples' homes and causing shocking loss of life
while summer heat-wave temperatures top 45 degrees
and many suffer heat-stroke which can kill the weak with ease.
It isn't any wonder that you Aussies hanker so
for winter when the temparatures are reasonably low.
We never seem to learn the lessons Nature each year teaches
when sunburn, drownings, sharks and jelly-fish despoil the beaches.
A few uncaring sheilas wearing only bits of string
can still be seen in Summer, so you can't have everything!
Hey, grandawt! I'm proud of ya and bloody thrilled to see ya writing again! I think ya pome is a perler an' wot you wrote is tha dinkum oil.
But the worst thing about summer, an' I won't tell you no lies,
Never mind the sharks and jelly-fish - IT's ALL THEM BLOODY FLIES!!
Applause, love in big lumps, squeezy hugs an' sloppy XXX's. Good luck in the voting.
Hugh (R.) aka Grampa.

40C!!!!!! I'm never moving there! It's 8 here today and we think it is summer, except the 4 feet of snow remind us otherwise, lol
I like the images you draw of your area, the arid, hot weather, the poor suffering wild life.
I'm going to say in the snow.

-
-
Thanks yem
You'd never move here now that we had 3 weeks of over 40 highest was 47 lol
glad you enjoyed it

You give us a wonderful view of the magic of what is Australia
And I like the repetetivnous of each stanza ending.
A well constructed poem which is both meaningful and beautiful.
Good luck in the contest

I like the images of the outback and life the rain brings, it sounds very exotic to one who has not been to Australia. The repeating line and its variations make a lovely thread holding the poem together. I enjoyed the view of nature the most in this poem. Best of luck!

Thank you
Lol I wouldnt say exotic but it is beautiful here. & very diverse
Glad you enjoyed my images
