I was your moon, your stars, your sun;
I was your world for all to see.
You bended leg and asked
if you could marry me.
Marry we did and I was
so happy and content to be.
You were my song, my heart, my life
you were my soliloquy
A friend in trouble reached out
and a helping hand we conferred.
Although I was blind to the reason
and what that action inferred.
Within weeks your love for me
had left and she was the one.
I was left the dark side of the moon
while she was your brand new sun!
I rained tears and thundered in pain
tried to keep you in any way I could see,
but she was the one you now wanted:
Somebody else's Soliloquy.
I was your world for all to see.
You bended leg and asked
if you could marry me.
Marry we did and I was
so happy and content to be.
You were my song, my heart, my life
you were my soliloquy
A friend in trouble reached out
and a helping hand we conferred.
Although I was blind to the reason
and what that action inferred.
Within weeks your love for me
had left and she was the one.
I was left the dark side of the moon
while she was your brand new sun!
I rained tears and thundered in pain
tried to keep you in any way I could see,
but she was the one you now wanted:
Somebody else's Soliloquy.
Author notes
This is inspired by the phrase: Somebody Elses Soliloquy and is option #3 in the contest. It is a true description, albeit long to short, of how my first marriage ended. I have , since that time, come to see that he was simply another of the broken roads that led me to my Belovèd Vic!

I loved the poem albiet so very sad. I had to look up the word "soliloquy". From the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, it said;
Main Entry: so·lil·o·quy
Pronunciation: \sə-ˈli-lə-kwē\
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural so·lil·o·quies
Etymology: Late Latin soliloquium, from Latin solus alone + loqui to speak
Date: circa 1613
1 : the act of talking to oneself
2 : a dramatic monologue that represents a series of unspoken reflections
I had to think about the connection and I see it now. It is an interesting and creataive take on the word. It expresses how close you two were.
I am sorry that you went through that.

another gem
I am addicted to very well written poetry and this certainly qualifies. I mostly write and prefer to read more on the sunny side than the dark, but sadness and dark emotions are real and need to be verbalized as well. You have don an excellent job with this poem.

Awww I'm so sorry sweetheart, this makes me want to cry. I know how horrible it is for someone you love to be in love with someone else and you are paralyzed to help it.
