I never knew him; dead before I came
history was told from my late father
two aunts and one uncle told me same
my older siblings knew our grandfather.
Proud Filipino, adopted Kekua's pride
saved by a great Hawaiian policeman
graciously embraced his life high and wide
fell in love with her and white bells began.
Twelve years alone without his deceased wife
dreaming away quietly from his sleep
slowly he gave up the ghost of his life
chill hung on my sad heart deeper than deep.
Three of us same bloodline never knew him,
I inherited his first name, William.

Oh! This is captivating! You have demonstrated w wonderful talent for storytelling. As contest judge I only have a problem with the grammatical error in L3.
Love,

I can see your growth, with this being a few years old and the poetry you post today. This is still very beautiful...to write a poem about someone is always special, but you did a sonnet, which in itself is very beautiful. well done!

i can picture him in this growing up and falling in love. in a way you're like his immortality and especially since you got his name you sort of carry a part of him into the future
