Dark Places

My storage in the basement, lower bottom shelf
Hides all the shit that happened to my family and myself.
In a time of weariness, and me a stupid  fool,
I opened up Pandora's box;  very, very cruel.
I'll put it back and shut the door, carry on with life
I'll burn the lot when I can, it's full of bloody strife.
We must have some pleasures, get on with living well,
Forget those times of misery and all that living hell.

Author notes

Sometimes it is better to leave well enough alone.

sometimes it is.. sometimes the best thing to do is to destroy all memory of past events, helps in the moving on...if not, I have a box of matches Im willing to lend you...

My pandora's box is purely memory. i have nothing concrete stored anywhere. Somewhere amongst my 40 odd moves from place to place in three countries almost all my material possessions have got lost. i am doing a mental burning, though. Some things are best forgotten, as you have said. Thanks for commenting, my friend.

Oh dear, it seems the Pandora boxes are opening at the moment. I can identify with your feelings here, and with the need to live life now, in this moment, and live it well.

I wonder just how many of us have those tough miserable times filed away somewhere in a box. Seems there are many. Thanks Mercedes, may we all live life now, and live it well.

I have a skeleton or two my closet as well and sometimes in my dreams I hear them rattle. Good piece of work Bob.

Life wasn't meant to be easy, but there is no need to keep the skeletons on show forever. File them and enjoy life where you can. Many thanks for commenting, I really appreciate them all.

Thanks John. I think we all have a box of misery deep in our memory, specially us older blokes. It may well be better to leave it where it is and get on with the business of living right now.
