Oh God
Humans think
that they will hear you
in the roar of the winds
that tear at the foundation
in the trembling of the earthquake
that shudders the grip
or in the fire’s fierce sweep
that burns across the face
of the mountain
But Lord
We need to listen
past the roar of wind
the shudder of earthquake
and the fierceness of fire
in which your strength and power
lies that shatters the mountain
to crumbled rock
We need to listen
to your gentle whisper
that comes after the roar,
sweep and burn
as your whisper
is for me, about me
and what You want
of and for me

I like the whispers of the faith in the each word showing HIS universal features around..very well done...and thanks for the poetry..

You are a challenge
to my faith, and gives me opportunity to reflect-in-action and also on my actions. I cannot write these words without sincere honesty or of my every day learning and what I truly believe. Whether gold or not, this does not matter, but it is the opportunities that you create for reflection that I appreciate. However, I accept this gold with humbleness. Frans

Your poem illuminated ...
the powerful Voice of our Creator AND the tenderness of His love and forgiveness, His caring and his solace.
I agree with Yvette that fierce of fire may be somewhat off grammatically. What about simply fierce fire? e.g.
We need to listen
past the roar of wind
the shudder of earthquake
and the fierce fire
Nevertheless, a wondrous poem of reverence.

Dear poet, you speak sotto voce to say this, this is the way, listen to Him in the same way which you would listen to your Father, in earnest. Maybe fierceness of fire as opposed to fierce of fire? Just a random thought amongst my rambling. I hear you asking us to listen for that which is elemental and to hark for what is beyond the elements.

the "gentle whisper"
so reflective of your words,
your wise considerations...

I just hope the lines of communication aren't broken when the good Lord calls. Best of luck in the contest.

Perfect!
This is wonderful, Frans, and the message vital. Sometimes I've wished people could hear the "voice of many waters" as I have: tremendously deep and booming yet incredibly comforting. Once that voice has been heard, one never doubts again and certainly monitors self much closer than ever before.
The first time I heard it, I was coming to in the hospital: "YOU have things yet to do." Well, that put stamped paid to any plans I might have had.
The few times I've literally heard Father since then has been to reassure: "Fear not, for you are safe in the Lord." Incredibly comforting in these dangerous times.
I hope many read this poem, for not only is it beautifully written but it also carries such an important message to work on self in accordance with God's requirements.
Luv & hugs, SisBon
