Everyday we realize
We're trapped in a pitiful world
Everybody says they want to get out
But when death faces them down
They run and hide in fear
I'm at a loss for words
I look around and ask
Where is love?
I'm appalled at the show of no mercy
From Christians
And amazed at the kindness
Of sinners
I'm at a loss for words
What the hell is this place?
Captured in confusion
My mind races
And I beg to God to let me go
But run like everyone else
Saying
I have too much to live for
I'm at a loss for words
Even I disgust myself
But I'm caught in the rituals
Of everyone else
The current of the world
Is dragging me in
And I can't escape
I'm at a loss for words
And then I am gone
Breathing no more
For the current has taken the life from me
I am but an empty shell
At a loss for words

I really love those lines. Great observations throughout the entire poem! Well done! Thanks for entering my contest. Good luck. It’s an honor to have you show your work here!

If this was set to music, it would make a very contempary Blues song. "I'm caught in the rituals", and the repetition of "I'm at a loss for words" carries the theme throughout.
