I buy her pretty dresses and feed her metaphors

i

we should’ve got off when we could

now all we can do is hold tight
and hang on to the brightly
painted memories and hope

that the ride doesn't end before
we do. who knew life would
turn out to be such a carnival?

I forgot the rules again

sixty four squares and I’ve
been pushed on each several times
knowing I should move forward
or backward and yet stuck, wanting

to see the move that finally

checkmates.

does a garden in the head count?

there are a couple of dead

sunflowers and a dying bougainvillea

that I keep propping up with pieces

of past and bits of string. maybe if I faked a

smile... they say plants like happy people.

Great use of the metaphors and so elegantly worded. Keep up the great work and congrats for a well deserved gold. I hope you don't mind that I added this to my faves list.

    Wow!

Everyone who entered this contest wrote exceptional poems, but these are the first where all three just blew me away. They are so powerful. I don't know that I can say it any clearer than that. I love every line, every image. Thank you for entering my contest.
