We are on our way.
Wrap yourself in the seasons colors and blades of meadow,
be still, as the dew mounted upon fellow surfaces.
Lack of attention and intoxication was what brought you to where you stand,
but hush now my child of hers,
I'm soon to be the arms that comfort you;
The fingers that brush through your tangled curls,
and the soothing voice of a heart welled with affection.
The woman who is called your mother, lacked the responsibility to care for you.
But hush now, my small frightened child,
I will guard your safety with my life.
Be still in your confusion,
For I am the one you can rely on.
Your smile is my goal,
and to hear that beautiful giggle.
Hush, my darling, hush...
I'm here now until the end.
Author notes
I am the step mother of a beautifully sweet boy named K.J who is seven years old. His mother is an alcoholic who has had a record of neglecting him and treating him without care.
His father and I are fighting for custody, and she tells us we wont win....wer'e doing the best that we can on the days we do have him, his father and I, and even though his father and I are not yet married.... we love him, I love him, as if he were my own child from my own womb.
And I will do and have bene doing, what I have to, to keep this child from harm.
