Please don't look away from me,
tell me I'm wrong,
like all the other days,
I second guessed all of your emotions.
I want to feel alive!
I want to be alive!
I want to know who you are.
Please don't tell me,
I'm no longer the gleam in your eye,
like an apparition fades,
the clouds begin to haze,
and my vision blurs with the rain.
Soft as petals do,
I fall down to you,
and I,
look up,
bow down,
and know,
we were never equal.
The violin strikes its chord,
manipulated by the fingers,
plucking the strings,
singing my fortune,
a melody I've heard,
one too many times.
Write me a new requiem,
I'm so tired of cliche,
if you should choose to break my heart,
do it some other way.
