joyce anderson

first glance i thought
she doesn’t look
anything like herself

memories of her
bright smiles
her hugs
flowing back

then the tears flow
her mother hands
me tissue
her father talks
about the flowers

second glance
she looked like she
was sleeping

all i can think about
is her silent piano

Author notes

I just attended the wake of an old friend

You and I are so much alike... especially when it comes to funerals. I'd whole lot rather keep the picture of that person alive in my head than dwell on the reality of their passing.

    Sincerely,

    The tuning fork still...lives...

  • You have a tenderness that you seldom show Red.

    Joyce,

Sorry for your loss, but she lives on in your heart, and these words. To have one person you can call a friend is often a whole world.
