Indian Runner

Missing image
I've an Indian Runner duck
For whom I paid only a buck
He walks around upright
A ridiculous sight
Especially when running amok.

This is funny, and a lovely limerick. I had Peking ducks, and loved them - they look much the same, I think.

    • Acutally Pekings, i think are the standard ones arent they? Indian runners stand straight up, like bowling pins. I could be wrong about Pekings, I am not a tame duck expert. Thank you for reading and commenting.

Clever and funny. Great wording and easy rhyme. Best of luck in the contest!

    • Thank you very much. All of my poems rhyme. If I wrote free verse it would only be a short story. I enjoy reading it but am content with leaving the writing of it to those better qualified.

    I enjoyed your limerick
and I think the ducks are neat.
    A buck's a bargain, I paid almost
    six for a dead chicken.

    • I have paid 4.79 for dead chickens but they were roasted. Thanks for reading and commenting. I am glad you enjoyed the poem.

      the Duck Runner

  • Aww, duckie, lol. I want one of those hens..Bantams? They are quite time and have fluffy feet.
Nice rhyme, but if you're only going to pay a dollar for a duck then it is bound to be faulty, lol.

    • Thanks for reading and commenting. I am glad you enjoyed the poem. I dont care much for chickens. They are about the stupidest animal I have ever been around. I can get ducks for free from my mother in law, or a buck a piece from the feed store as ducklets.

    Superb Plus

What a wonderful limerick!! (I think that be the right term). Thanks for the chuckles, my friend. Again, well done.

    • I was limited by the contest rules saying it could not be bawdy. I was talking with a poet on here about the legality of moving these ducks across the border into Canada. It is my postulation that if the ducks walked across the border into Canada, I have broken no export law. Furthermore, if someone on the other side rescued the ducks, they would not be importing them. Anyway, this is why I have Indian Runners on my brain.

Okies, whatever you say. Thanks for more chuckles! I used to work in both domestic and international shipping and receiving, so this really appealed to me.

Would that make you a duck-runner?
