It's so flamin hot this summer
It is no place for a cat
I'm lookin for a cool spot
Tell me where it's at.
I will just wait right here
In the bathroom basin
While you find a place for me
It won't be mice I'm chasin.
Author notes
We searched the house to put the cat out while we went to town. This is where we found him.

Ha ha...this is gorgeous !!!!
A great pic of Tiga and a great poem to go with the pic.
What a clever cat...just love this.
Very well done...it should be in a contest...cos it's certainly a winner.
Hope you have some relief from the heat soon.

Precious pic Bob
Great accompanying write...I can just picture Tiga layin' back there purring just what you've penned.
I read your reply to Jules and
I shall be thinking of you to console myself as this heat continues down here.

Take care
Linda

It is now Monday. We have some high cloud and a gentle easterly breeze. Its cooler but that cat has sought and found his spot for the afternoon heat we will get. I watch where he goes each morning and I'm sure he knows just how hot it is going to be and selects his position accordingly. Mant thnks for your comment and your thoughts.

It is a smidge milder here today too...I go by how long my Chilli Dog holds on for...if she refuses to step out the door for relief ... neither do I

it's only 4 degrees cooler but quite noticeable. Winds cahnge too so i shall hope for a little rain.

I don't blame the cat - the bathroom is often the coolest room in the house - I know mine was! Lovely poem, and picture - I hope the heat breaks soon.

thanks Mercedes, in our place the cat is in the coolest place. I look forward to autumn and am grateful we are not in a Bushfire area. I sympathise with those people.

cool cat...
Hi Bob...love this poem and pic
We have a cat named Purdy. She is part Chinchilla and you can imagine how she's forever searching for a cool spot. She lays flat on her back with front and back legs sprawled out to full extent...Quite a sight

We are in to our second week of 40 plus temperatures (and that's in the shade
)
Well penned Bob

Hi Julie, you are lucky with the heat wave. Ours has been with us since just before Xmas. Outside topped at 52 two days in a row. That is out in the sun. No rain since I don't know when and everything is as dry as a limeburners wig.
That cat knows where it's coolest. He's actually a most georgeous cat , who eats very little for his size.
Many thanks for your comments and thoughts.
Stay cool.

They are smart lil creatures. And each has their own personality's. I enjoyed this write and it's reality of life owning a cat. They are not owned, at least in their minds.lol ty.

many thanks for your comments. I believe that if you have a dog you have a loyal companion but with a cat you are merely its valet. But they are georgeous and affectionate when they choose.

lol trust a cat huh, they are the opulent kings of the animal world
agree on the heat too mate, shes been warm
Cheers

Thanks Rob. You know that when you get a dog the dog knows its master, but when you get a cat, the bloody cat gets a valet.

Hi Bob, This poem is not even in a contest. This is just a fun poem with a picture of one of my cats in his normal position, horizontal. I appreciate you compliments my friend and thank you for them. I shall pass your salutations on to Tiga.

He's not silly that cat! He knows where to get to keep cool. I really enjoyed this fun read!

Hi John, and many thanks my friend. There has been so much serious stuff written recently that i thought a bit of light relief was in order. He is a big affectionate and lovely cat. The big old hand basin is only just big enough for him. We have been in heat wave conditions since just before Xmas. However, each day gets closer to the cooler time of autumn.

Your cat! Simply scrumpcious animal. He looks huge. A very funny write. Cats are not silly. They go for the coolest material. Guess he has watched you over a period of time and seen cool water in there. Great write and top marks, especially with the Kitty. What's his name?

That cat is named Tiga, he should have been called Garfield. He has all the tricks and mannerisms of the cartoon cat. he is a very large cat. Neither Lis nor I can nurse him on our laps; not enough lap. he is as independent as they make them and a complete gentleman to all and sundry except Millie, the other house cat. Dogs, mice, birds are all safe with Tiga, but he likes to chase Millie. Chase being the operative word as he has no hope of catching her. Both are desexed and about 7-8 years old.
Glad you enjoyed the read.
