The Cost

You cover me with guilt
You cover me with shame
And you give my loved ones the blame

You say I have no free will
But my will is freer than yours
It may not be honest
It may not be conventional
But you just remember
that everything's eventual

And you try-oh you try to hurt and scream
But you just don't know
No, you don't know
I wish I could let my true colors show

You cover me with your problems
And your daily dealings
And you try to stomp everyone
As if they have no feelings

I'm sorry if this hurts your ego
I'm sorry if this kills all your will
But it's all the truth-if it can be handled why don't you move to Rio

I've never been so cynical
I've never been so confined
Sometimes I think it's part of your plan
You so brilliantly designed

And some days I wonder if you want people to suffer
And you you're so angry at their presence
I want you to take cover

I don't understand your self-indulgence
I don't understand how nothing can be kept sacred
I think that your demise is something that is fated

And you try to pin the blame on others
Including me
Some believe in karma-karma can be a bitch
When it's coming at you full force times three

Until you realize that all that holds you is yourself
You'll always be lost
Never found
Oh, if only you knew the cost
If only you knew the cost
If only you knew the cost
