X marked the spot,
on that fateful day,
he glanced at her,
she couldn't look away,
shy as she was,
he took her breath
and sent it to the stars
she fell that day,
and each day more,
he held her strong,
he kept her warm,
each touch,
each whisper,
every goose-bump
telling another story
of a lover's dream of ecstasy
they grew,
she fell harder and deeper,
each year sweeter than the next,
babies turned to teens turned to parents
still living their dream,
loving and whole
Alzheimer's or no,
they refuse to let go
such a sweet day it was
when she fell
