Powerful and heartbreaking poem. It seems, to me, from this and another poem of yours I read, that this is a very real event in your life. That people warned you against someone and you didn't listen and got your heart broken.
I can tell you from experience, this is the way it goes. Once our heart begins to beat for someone, our ears close against all else.
