I can only BE numb
because to feel is too painful
How can you feel the loss of your mother
your lifetime best friend
your son, who only comes around when needing something
how can you feel the loss of your daughter
so full of anger over what, you do not know
she has never told you
but it is enough to keep your grandchildren from you
making your grandson afraid to come see you
how can you comprehend your precious granddaughters pain
so awful that she cuts at her wrists to release it
telling you now that she hates you
hating me gets her mothers attention
so so sad when she should have us both
how do you live with a man who once adored you
and now barely sees you
and when he does, has nothing nice to say
his work is most important to him
he does not want to see or admit
that his wife is depressed, lonely, hurting
and often thinks of leaving this world lately
he just might have to take some responsibility for it
how do you make any sense of all the people you gave yourself too
those you loved only to turn on you when you were no longer needed
NUMB
numb is the only way I can stay alive

We blind are eyes to pain, but keep writing it does help.

The sadness expressed...echoes...in the wake of this poem...such heartache and feeling beyond feeling. A wonderful take on the prompt. Bravo!
Good luck with the contest.

I wish that there was something I could do for you but I don't think there is other than to be just a support for you.
I'm sorry for everything that is wrote in this poem. Your daughter and you should be close and only if you are so for your granddaughter who you both love so much. I don't think that she needs all this fighting. I think that she just needs to know that she has people at her back ready to catch her should she fall.
So attempt to make peace with your daughter if only for the sake of your granddaughter.
I'm sorry if my advice isn't welcomed. I'm just trying to think about everyone involved. I think that your granddaughter is the one being hurt the most out of this whole thing.
