The rumor running around here is...
That welcome spring is on her way
That’s what the grey squirrel says
And I believe him more every day
I have it on good authority
Brown bear has got up out of bed
And the geese plan to leave town
At least, that's what the raccoon said
Red fox was kind enough to tell me
Some of the lucky deer in the know
Can smell the fresh green grasses
Underneath the last winter snow
But, what convinced me was the little
Birdie that whispered in my ear
'Let’s sing brother… loud and clear'
'Welcome fair weather... spring is here!'

I like this poem a lot! The way you the animals spread the news of the change of season (it's fairylike!)
What interest me a lot is that the first 2 stanzas are written in the 3rd person (statements based on hearsay) then you SEE the evidence ending the poem with the last stanza in 1st person...INTERESTING!!!!! -
thanks for reading... I'm glad you liked that stanza, me and that stanza went "toe to toe"

WOW!! This is amazing, i wish i could write a poem like this, it is so different, i was swept into it, it is so original! You have a talent, keep up the good work!!
My favourite stanza is:
"I have it on good authority
Brown bear has got up out of bed
And the geese plan to leave town
At least, that's what the raccoon said"

It's funny you say the second stanza is off... I fought with it and finally just gave up. LOL

I LOVE IT!! ^___^ Not just because I'm sick of winter and looking so very very forward to spring. But the flow, and the idea of the rumor spreading among the animals - an entirely enjoyable read. The only part that didn't seem quite... /right/ was the second stanza... I don't know what it is, but it seems - off. Something about the rhythm, I think... maybe it's just me?
