Winged Blessings

Missing image
Navigating through blizzard
birds flock to feeder,
flashes of reds and blues
brighten up the endless white space,
in an otherwise pale and sightless world

prayer finds wings,
as thoughts lift in gratitude,
blessings fly freely
giving hope to the helpless,
and colors flash in emptiness
to lighten up the heart

creator’s loving hands
sooth souls that are hungry,
as creatures of life
search in the barren landscape
for miracles that filter down
through the masterpieces of nature.

Author notes

watching all the birds at our feeder and sending silent prayers up on wings.....
I don't know - just thoughts

I love watching the birds when it's cold outside! They are so cute, small...and FAT! I always call them 'little fatties' when I see them. I really wish that they were tame so that I could pet them. Great job and love the picture.

Love the story of your 'special' dove - we have 2 cardinals that showed up almost every day after my parents passed - I think, deep down, I look out at them and think 'mom and dad'..
I love to watch the birds at the feeder....

Beautiful thoughts, dear one! I recall scenes like that when I lived up in the forest, snow on the ground yet here came the robins and blue jays; even my friendly squirrel scampered up on the deck to see if I'd put out a bowl of peanuts for her. Of course, I had.

Vivid imagery, sense of serenity and peace is woven with golden threads throughout this gorgeous poem. I deem it worthy of GOLD!

    Much love and hugs, BonQ

We have woods out back. Get lots of birds to our feeder in the winter (and wild turkey in the yard, too!). Love to watch them.
