and maybe it was my steps,
or the sound of my bag bumping
dully against the rails
but you heard me
as i was coming up the stairs
and you stood up
the funny thing was you were
a complete stranger
but i knew you-
i knew why you sat on the stairs
with nothing in your head
about where you wanted to go,
what you wanted to do, what to think about
and how it hadn’t always been that hard
i knew too, just looking
into your eyes- that you wanted to
run away
but you had nowhere to run to.
Author notes
'Dill?'
'Mm?'
'Why do you think Boo Radley's never run off?'
Dill sighed a long sigh and turned away from me.
'Maybe he doesn't have anywhere to run off to.'

ooo

very interesting interpretation of these few lines
It is so sad that Boo is one of the mockingbirds and is a scapegoat for all bad occurences but the lines convey he message perfectly
