Might it be the melting snow,
or clear skies all around?
Maybe it's the birds chirping,
and the fresh air in town.
Could it be the dandelions?
Or the smell of fresh cut grass?
Maybe seashells in the sand and
Catching sunsets fading fast.
With red leaves on the ground,
maybe it's the cooling lakes.
It could be the soft breeze,
or even the starlit nights.
Maybe it's the frost in the morning,
and snow flakes drifting down.
Might it be little icicles?
Or the snow covered ground?
I just can't choose my favorite.
Truthfully? I love them all.
These simple little things,
can't you see mother nature?
Your gentle ways,
are so beautiful.
I wasn't going to enter this, or even finish writing it. You see, I dreamt this. A dreamt a woman singing some of these lines and playing her guitar high above the town on a cliff. Dressed in many pastel colours, she looked so peaceful. Truthfully, I thought it was beautiful I wrote down the few lines she had sung onto a piece of paper, just to always remember it. I tend to do that with my dreams, write them down (yes I have a dream journal lol) I was never going to make it into a poem to add to AP, because it's always been diffiult for me to capture any type of happiness or hopefullness into a poem, But when I saw your new contest... the irony of how it matched perfectly, made me wonder if I was supposed to write it. So I did. And even if I don't win anything, At least I knew I wrote it like I was meant to. By the way the lady in my dream sung "Maybe it's the dandilions, or the seashells in the sand. These simple little things that help complete our land. I may be a little crazy, I may be a little lost, but mother nature will always find me, even in the frost"
