Pinstriped Canopy

A sour kiss inside the corners of an
empty shadow, locked luminescence
inside the clovers of a dream-- a
taste like honeysuckle on the streets
we used to dwindle.

Flutter along the roadside in your
pinstriped canopy; yellow brushstrokes
on a black background--
perfect sunset, June sounds lovely
like the humming of bees come to nest
in my flowers...

I love your work. This is so soothing and beautiful. This poem, like your newest one, is rife with wonderful sounds. The vowel sounds offer this poem such a placid tone. There are so few hard consonant sounds: d, k, p, q, t, that this poem has a melodic lullaby feel to it. The ending especially is a nice droning of sounds. The hard E sound in humming and bees is particularly pleasant.

Very nice job. I am so envious.
