One night long ago,
I lay down upon my bed,
a terrible aloneness filling heart and head.
So weeping softly, quietly I began to pray,
"Oh, Father, if only in this moment, this day,
like a babe you would cradle me in your arms,
to soothe away all my alarms.
And He did. He did!
Oh, praise the Lord, He answered as I bid!
At once that long ago,
I felt a deep measure of His care
and His abiding love so willing to share.
Then I knew… I'd never been a lone.
It had just been Satan's ill wind blown,
intended to toss me from a righteous path,
his evil game rewarded by God's wrath.
Oh, praise the Lord, He answered as I bid!
For then I knew, from me He'd never hid.
And since that time long ago,
I've not felt again as a cradled babe,
yet each time I stumble, He fails not to save.
So I fill each day with joyous praise
As I look upon His creation with a loving gaze,
knowing He fulfills my every need…
If only I hear— and heed.
"Oh, Lord! In me, bind up your testimony
and seal your law
that in Christ's light, I'll be found without flaw!"
And He did as I bid!
Author notes
In response to an age old question, I've always said no man can prove the existence of God; one must experience God to know He DOES exist, is very much alive and well and absolutely in control; always has been, always will be. If you've never experienced God and Christ, you've only to believe and obey and ask.

Your faith is abounding a glorious melody sung from your words felt with the warmth of personal witness. My experiences are few, but in the depths of hell when I finally pray I have succumbed to the warmth and peace of his love.

It was amazing when God literally picked me up in His arms and cradled me. One never forgets such an awe-inspiring event, one filled with love such as I had never in my life experienced. Having been raised in an abuse environment, it was no wonder that, at 6yo, when I heard "Jesus Loves Me" in church, I wanted His love and all that He offers. He never disappoints and I've never felt unloved since that night. The poem, really, is a pitiful effort to put into words God's immediate response to me and He came with me wide awake! Awesome!
Thank you so much, sistah, for letting me know that someway, somehow, and on occasion I bring our Lord alive for others. Most days I never know, and on some days I wonder if I'm doing any good for Him at all. Then, along comes a sistah like you reassuring me. God is good!
Much love & hugs, SisBon
