The shroud of night blinds the eyes and heart,
as the demons of ancient lore
start to rip away at my very flesh.
Wanting to scream out in agony,
yet their horrid lifeless moaning screams out for me.
Blocking out the light
and all that could be evident of life,
as they hurtle me into the infernal pit
from where they were born.
Never to be seen again,
as that which is left of me
slowly fades away.
The light which has been known as my life,
extinguished within such a moment,
and the pitch of evil now does have a hold on me
and nothing can save my soul.
Never to awaken from this nightmare,
for the nightmare is within my mind
evolving, growing stronger with every breath I take.
Till finally,
I am damned to walk this earth,
nothing more than a mere shell of who I am.
For these demons have devoured my essence
and now I am nothing
but a mere shadow of what I once was.
A faded thought
never to truly be remembered,
till finally
I vanish completely
into the vast emptiness of this void
of myself.
